June 1967 Syd Barrett performs during an early photo session prior to the release of Pink Floyd's debut album. Syd was the band's first creative force and an influential songwriter, penning their early hits - he wrote most of 'The Piper at the Gates of Dawn'. Uncut says of him, "Barrett,was spectacularly gifted, one of the most original songwriters and true visionaries that England has ever produced. Arguably the key musical personality of 1967 on either side of the Atlantic."
