Modern Rocks Gallery are proud to present an exclusive collection of outtakes from the iconic underwater photo shoot with Nirvana for the cover of "Nevermind" by Austin photographer, Kirk Weddle which have never been available to purchase until now. 

Just as Nirvana were tearing up the rock'n'roll rule book with their major label debut Nevermind in the fall of 1991, Austin photographer Kirk Weddle was commissioned to shoot the band for photos to promote the impending blitz. His idea? Toss the band into a swimming pool to mimic the album's infamous naked baby cover image he’d shot a few months earlier.

Many of these images are also featured in Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, a documentary directed by Brett Morgen that premieres on HBO May 4.

Show runs from 30th May until 27th June - with an opening reception from 7pm to 10pm on Saturday 30th May where you will be able to meet Kirk Weddle, view and purchase signed, limited edition prints from this unique collection. Drinks will be served on the night thanks to Revolution Spirits and Mathias from Dozen Street Bar creating some Nirvana themed cocktails!


The prints in Modern Rocks Gallery’s exclusive collection are printed on Chromira metallic paper with metallic inks to bring out the amazing underwater colors.
