What an amazing week - and one to never forget here at Modern Rocks Gallery during our 10th Anniversary year.
The Black Keys came to SXSW and knocked it out of the park. Akron, Ohio was in Austin, Texas and it was pure magic from start to finish with amazing shows, appearances, record hangs, a movie premiere, a keynote speech, and to top it all, Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney came to hang at Modern Rocks Gallery on the opening night of Larry Niehues’ gallery show.
The Black Keys: Photographs by Larry Niehues, runs until the first week of April, with prints available to order from our website if you can’t make it to the gallery.
Huge thanks to everyone in The Black Keys the Easy Eye Soundfamily for bringing the magic.

Larry Niehues’ relationship with The Black Keys began through a shared love of motorcycles, vintage Americana, and a special feature of Dan Auerbach’s impressive collection of bikes that ran in Dice Magazine. Larry continued to work with Dan Auerbach over the course of a few projects.
Ready for a life change, Larry relocated from Los Angeles to Nashville where he began working with The Black Keys and was ultimately brought on as the band’s official tour photographer. Keeping pace with the band’s rigorous schedule both on and off the road has granted Larry unique access to capture images of the group performing in more intimate settings.
Drawn from a wealth of thousands of images shot on stage, in the studio, and at rest, this never-before-seen collection offers an inside view of the band that fans and music lovers are sure to adore.
