To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Nirvana’s groundbreaking Nevermind on 24th September 2021, we’re pleased to announce the release of a new book, Nirvana: Never Mind the Photos by album cover photographer, Kirk Weddle. The book showcases these extraordinary shots, examining just how difficult photographing an underwater baby turned out to be, nevertheless photographing an underwater band. These images of Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic capture the band as they dive in and submerge themselves into the rock icon stratosphere.
When lists are made and articles are written about rock and roll's greatest album covers – there's a consistent name at the top: Nevermind by Nirvana; Nirvana's breakthrough 1991 record that cemented the band's legacy into legend. The image of the baby floating towards a dollar bill on a fish-hook is instantly recognizable as iconic. Now – for the first time in book form – the photographer behind the lens shares his memories from that day, along with his nearly 140 outtakes, including promo shots of the band. The book also features contributions from Nevermind producer, Butch Fig, the album cover designer, Robert Fisher and more.
We’re delighted to announce a stunning new collection of nudes by award winning fashion and celebrity photographer, Markus Klinko. The collection includes among others, Dita Von Teese, Stoya and Aubrey O’Day
To accompany the collection, there is a virtual 3D exhibition, where you can browse the collection, moving through the gallery space.
Terry O’Neill CBE was one of the world’s most collected photographers with work hanging in national art galleries and private collections worldwide. From presidents to pop stars he photographed the frontline of fame for over six decades. O’Neill began his career at the birth of the 1960s. While other photographers concentrated on earthquakes, wars and politics, O’Neill realized that youth culture was a breaking news story on a global scale and began chronicling the emerging faces of film, fashion and music who would go on to define the Swinging Sixties. By 1965 he was being commissioned by the biggest magazines and newspapers in the world.
No other living photographer has embraced the span of fame, capturing the icons of our age from Winston Churchill to Nelson Mandela, from Frank Sinatra and Elvis to Amy Winehouse, from Audrey Hepburn and Brigitte Bardot to Nicole Kidman, as well as every James Bond from Sean Connery to Daniel Craig. He photographed The Beatles and The Rolling Stones when they were still struggling young bands in 1963, pioneered backstage reportage photography with David Bowie, Elton John, Eric Clapton and Chuck Berry and his images have adorned historic rock albums, movie posters and international magazine covers.
Terry O’Neill passed away, aged 81, quietly at home after a long illness.
We have a collection featuring a selection of the last available prints, signed and numbered by Terry O’Neill, from his stunning and iconic archive. Click on the images below to see the collection.
