Robert M. Knight

We're incredibly proud to welcome legendary rock photographer, Robert M. Knight to Modern Rocks Gallery.

Robert M. Knight is the one man who can rightfully say “It happened and I was there.” Knight’s photographs have served as testimony to some of the greatest moments in rock and roll history. He is one of the first professional photographers to shoot Jimi Hendrix and the last man to photograph Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Raised in Hawaii and based in Los Angeles, Knight began in the business back in 1968, and since then has quietly created an incredible archive of rock n' roll icons, including the likes of Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and The Rolling Stones to name but a few. NEW RELEASE: David Bowie Scary Monsters Color Contact Sheet Print

Available for the first time in color, David Bowie in his Perriot clown costume from the Scary Monsters sessions from The Duffy Archive.

Museum quality contact sheet print from the official Duffy Archive. Originally shot in black and white, the image has been colorized for the first time by Brian Duffy's son, photographer Chris Duffy.

By the time this session was shot, Brian Duffy had given up his own studio, so Chris assisted his father and the session was shot in Chris’s London studio. After the shoot Chris photographed Bowie and those images were used to promote the album. Chris was ideally suited to interpret the session and give this endearing image a fresh new Pop Art perspective.

Available for the first time in two limited edition sizes.
