We were truly saddened to learn that the legendary photographer, Don Hunstein passed away a few days ago after a long battle with illness.

Don Hunstein had a knack for being in the right place at the right time. He was the in-house photographer at Columbia Records shooting hundreds of album covers and documenting the recording sessions of many of the 20th Century’s most important musicians. He was a great photographer, equally skilled in large or small format, in black & white or color.

We're pleased to announce a new collection from acclaimed British artist Morgan Howell.

Howell’s original large format paintings of old 45s have been attracting a cult following amongst musicians and music industry moguls alike. His large format 3D painting of David Bowie’s 'The Jean Genie' sits proudly on the wall at Sony Music, 'Yesterday' by The Beatles is at the iconic Capitol Building in L.A. and famous owners include Ozzy Osbourne, Neil Diamond, Lord Lloyd Webber, Don Letts, Jerry Dammers, Ian Brown and Johnny Marr. Examples of his work are a permanent feature of the Radio 2 Green Room alongside Elton John’s piano, and when the BBC interviewed The Rolling Stones in London’s Dorchester Hotel in the run up to their concerts at the 02 in November 2012, three of his supersize Rolling Stones singles formed the backdrop. A matched pair of his paintings of The Beatles double A-Side 'Hey Jude' and 'Revolution' fetched £20,000 in an auction at Abbey Road studios. His original painting for Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” has earned a place at BMG Chrysalis, whilst The Eagles’ ‘Hotel California’ and ‘The Clash piece 'White Man at Hammersmith Palais’ were auctioned off in aid of Children in Need.

Due to popular demand, Morgan has kindly released a collection of signed limited edition prints, taken directly from his original paintings, which are now available from Modern Rocks Gallery in the US.

We're both proud and excited to announce a new collection at Modern Rocks Gallery from British artist, Horace Panter, also known as Sir Horace Gentleman, bass player in the British ska 2-Tone band, The Specials.

Although most of his career has been defined by music, Horace graduated in 1975 with a degree in Fine Art from Coventry University. It was there where he met Jerry Dammers, and the concept of the ska/punk band, The Specials, was born. Horace's artistic influences are diverse and range from the Pop Art paraphernalia of artists such as Peter Blake, Andy Warhol and Robert Indiana, to the depictions of light in paintings by Edward Hopper and David Hockney.

His giant cassette paintings show the humble cassette tape as an icon in terms of its place in both musical and cultural history. Each one represents a band or a song that has stood the test of time and become a classic in the pop genre and the recording studio in which it was produced. Many of those studios no longer exist, so each cassette is meticulously researched to look true to the original studio tapes.

These vibrant prints have been exhibited in the UK, New York and LA, and now can be purchased from Modern Rocks Gallery as signed, limited edition prints.
